Exploring cultures feels a lot like touching the Root Qi of humanity
Every story, tradition, and symbol carries a wave a resonance that connects us beyond time and geography. This is what I call the ontological field / autoflow: it’s not just knowledge in the head, but a subtle radiation that we stand inside, like how Wi-Fi fills a room even when we don’t see it.
This one is definitely me — I’ve basically built a second career out of being fascinated by “different.” Early retirement gave me the time and space to lean into slow travel, and now I’m a full-time culture sponge. Love this concept, and grateful you gave it a name.
Hello Natalie, it is nice to be with you in this substack space as one of the substackers.
You know what - your essay is so close to my own experience and exposure during my professional life lived in 5 continents. I encountered mosiac of culture, tradions, norms and value systems.
I have learned that life is not a straight line - it is a circle of giving and receiving, of exposure and experience. Every continent I stepped on, every culture I encountered, reminded me that human ingenuity knows no borders - and neither does the hunger to learn.
Let's continue this conversation sharing the best that we can offer to substackers and beyond.
If don't mind I am going to subsribe to your good work. And if you wish to join me i am at:

Beautifully described! That “click on” that is activated when we feel in line with a place.
This is a great tool kit!
Thanks Richard! So enjoy following your travels!
I love this so much!! Makes me desperately want to travel to all
those places you mentioned.
So glad you liked it! There are so many places in this world with lessons to teach us about life.
